Step 6: Finding Factors using Divisibility Rules

Divisibility rules help us find factors of large numbers easily.

🔹 Method

  1. Apply divisibility rules
  2. Identify possible divisors
  3. Confirm factors

📘 Solved Examples

Example 1: Find factors of 180

  • Divisible by 2 → Yes
  • Divisible by 3 → 1+8+0=9 ✔
  • Divisible by 5 → Last digit 0 ✔

So, factors include 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, etc.

Example 2: Is 420 divisible by 6?

  • Divisible by 2 → Yes
  • Digit sum = 6 → Yes
  • Therefore divisible by 6 ✔

📝 Exam Writing Format

  • Apply rule step-by-step
  • Show calculation clearly
  • Write final conclusion

🧠 Tip: If a number is divisible by 2, 3, and 5 → many factors guaranteed!
