Long ago, people did not write books like we do today. Still, we can learn a lot about their lives.
This chapter tells us how books and burials help us understand people of the past.
They tell us about beliefs, customs, and daily life.
STAGE 1: Chapter Explanation (Story Style)
What Are Manuscripts?
Manuscripts are old handwritten books. They were written on palm leaves or birch bark.
Many manuscripts talk about stories, prayers, and rules.
The Vedas
The Vedas are among the oldest books. They were written in the Sanskrit language.
They tell us about prayers, gods, and life long ago.
Different Kinds of People
People lived in different ways. Some were farmers, some were herders, and some were rulers.
What Are Burials?
Burials are places where people were buried after death.
From burials, we learn about:
- Beliefs of people
- Social differences
- Things people used in daily life
Megaliths
Some burials were marked with big stones. These are called megaliths.
Objects like pots, tools, and ornaments were found near the dead bodies.
