Basic Meaning
Movement: Change in position of the body or its parts.

Human Body and Movement
Our body moves with the help of bones, muscles, and joints. Bones form a framework called the skeleton.
Skeleton
The skeleton gives shape and support to the body and protects internal organs.
Major Parts of Skeleton
- Skull
- Rib cage
- Backbone
- Limb bones
Joints
Joints are places where two or more bones meet.
Types of Joints
- Ball and socket joint: Shoulder, hip
- Hinge joint: Elbow, knee
- Pivot joint: Neck
- Fixed joint: Skull bones
Muscles
Muscles help in movement by contracting and relaxing. Muscles always work in pairs.
Movement in Animals
- Earthworm: Moves by stretching and contracting its body
- Snail: Moves using muscular foot
- Fish: Swims using fins and tail
- Birds: Fly using wings
- Snake: Moves by forming loops
