(ii) Name the animals found in the Amazon forests.
The animals found in the Amazon forests include monkeys, sloths, ant-eaters, tapirs, jaguars, snakes, crocodiles and a variety of birds and insects.
(iii) What is the main occupation of the people of the Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin?
The main occupation of the people of the Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin is agriculture. They grow crops like rice, wheat, maize, sugarcane and jute. Fishing and animal rearing are also important activities.
(iv) Name the crops grown in the Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin.
The crops grown in the Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin include rice, wheat, maize, sugarcane, jute, pulses and oilseeds.

Give reasons:
(i) The tropical region is rich in biodiversity.
The tropical region receives heavy rainfall and has a hot climate throughout the year. These conditions support the growth of dense forests and a wide variety of plants and animals. Therefore, the tropical region is rich in biodiversity.
(ii) The Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin is one of the most densely populated regions of the world.
The Ganga–Brahmaputra Basin has fertile alluvial soil, abundant water supply and suitable climate. These conditions support agriculture and human settlement, making it densely populated.
