STAGE 0: Let Us Begin (Foundation)

In earlier times, people lived by hunting animals and gathering food. Slowly, people learned a new way of life.

They began to grow plants and rear animals. This chapter tells us how people changed their life from gathering food to growing food.

STAGE 1: Chapter Explanation (Story Style)

Why Did People Start Growing Food?

People noticed that plants grew from seeds. They learned that food could be grown near their homes.

Growing food made life easier and safer.

Domestication of Plants

People began to grow plants like:

  • Wheat
  • Rice
  • Barley

This is called domestication of plants.

Domestication of Animals

People also started keeping animals. They tamed animals like:

  • Dogs
  • Goats
  • Sheep
  • Cattle

Animals gave milk, meat, and helped in farming.

Life in Villages

As people stayed in one place, they started living in villages.

They built houses, stored food, and lived together as a community.

Tools and Pottery

People made better tools using stone. They also learned to make pots from clay.

Pots were used to store food and water.
