(a) 2 × 2 × 2 × 2
(b) 5 × 5 × 5

Answer:

(a)

2 is multiplied 4 times.
So, 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 24

(b)

5 is multiplied 3 times.
So, 5 × 5 × 5 = 53

Question 2

Evaluate:
(a) 34
(b) 102

Answer:

(a)

34 = 3 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 81

(b)

102 = 10 × 10 = 100

Simplify:
23 × 24

Answer:

Step 1: Use the law: am × an = am+n

23 × 24 = 23+4 = 27

Express the following using powers of 10:

Answer:
